I remember learning about the great land rushes when I was in grade school. The land rushes were amazing events where the early American settlers would line up their horses and wagons on a mock starting line. A shot would ring out and they would all race to lay claim to a piece of land where they could stake their future. I always found the story intriguing.
I remember one classmate asking why everyone
didn’t line up if they were giving away free land. I loved my teacher’s response. She said it wasn’t exactly free if you considered that they had to make an investment to actually get to the land rush; and that once people had the land they had to be willing to work it. It wasn’t free, but if you were willing to make a reasonable investment you could get a great return.
There are no more land rushes anymore. But I do think of the REO Market as the modern day equivalent. For those who are willing to make an investment of time and energy there is an opportunity for great return. Just like the great land rushes of old, the opportunity is not suited to everyone; but for those with a vision and a willingness to put forth some effort this an exciting prospect.
