Can the effect of home movies ever be over estimated? This last weekend my family gathered and my cousin Therese announced that she had taken a stack of the old family movies and had them converted to DVD. The next four hours were a blur of tears and laughter as we watched endless scenes of years gone by featuring loved ones both here and gone.
What was amazing to all of us was not just the joy of seeing everyone younger but the excitement with which we viewed the locations. There was one movie of a Christmas in 1960 shot by my Aunt Lillian, who was not the greatest camera person. Faces were cut in half and sometimes images flew by in a blur. Still, at one point the entire room erupted in cheers at a momentary shot of an old wing backed chair. Three generations shouted at the memory of a chair in which we had all been rocked to sleep in over a 40 year span. It reminded everyone of “home”.
One thing is certain time will continue to pass. Make sure you are making memories with your family and whenever possible dig out the camera to document them. If you are ready to make memories in a new home please contact us at Island Advantage Realty, LLC. We help families everyday to own a home of their own.
