“Now is the winter of our discontent…”  Well, I guess it depends on how you look at things.  There are a lot of people around the world that are unhappy.  Winter weather can be a trial and the economy, the economy, the economy.  It’s enough to make anyone discontented, if that’s all they focused on.  But what about people who are willing to focus on opportunity instead of negativity, are they feeling discontented?  Not from where I sit.

Everyday I help families to find the REO property of their dreams.  These high value homes are sold a reduced cost to compensate for necessary repairs giving home owners an ideal opportunity to invest in their future.  It’s funny how inconsequential some February slush can be when you finally realize the dream of home ownership.  Winter of our discontent, I don’t think so.  In my office I like to think of it as the Winter of Opportunity.

If you’ve been waiting for the opportune moment to become a home owner, don’t wait any longer.  Pick up the phone and call Island Advantage Realty, LLC we are the recognized experts in REO sales for the Metro NY and Long Island areas.  We have the knowledge and expertise to help you find a great opportunity.

logo5Have you ever considered investing in real estate?  The current REO market has some exceptional opportunities available for long term investments and income properties.  It’s widely known in real estate that a great time to buy property is when the cost to own is less than the cost to rent.  The current market offers the possibility of owning for less than re nting, it also offers a large population who are looking to rent and unable to buy.  picket-fenceIt is an unfortunate reality in our current economy, but there are a large number of people w ho need to rent affordable housing.

With low interest rates and affordable REO properties available for sale, you could easily find yourself owning a property that can provide income now and financial security toward retirement.  Real Estate makes a great long term investment. Just ask the people who bought real estate during the recession in the early 80’s; even with the downturn in the market they have financial security because of their smart purchases.

logo5Remember back in the day when a Fixer Upper meant that a property just needed a little TLC.  Then at some point “fixer-upper” became synonymous with “falling down around your ears.”  It used to be that REO property, Real Estate Owned, was typically property that was extremely run down.  In the market of even five years ago, REO property was not uncommon, but there also wasn’t a large selection.  Typical REO properties had been neglected for long periods of time and then sat empty for months if not years.  Generally they were in bad shape.

When the market changed, so did the status of REO Properties.  Suddenly there were a wide variety of properties available, homes that had been cared for, homes that were still in great shape.  Four leaf cloverIt’s important to realize that today’s REO market is unlike any other at any other time.  There are “fixer-uppers” available, there are properties that require extensive remodeling and there are even properties that are essentially move in ready.  There are REO homes available in every size, price range and neighborhood imaginable.

The real task in this current market is being able to identify these homes and negotiate terms with the lender. Island Advantage Realty LLC is a proven expert in this field.  We are the recognized leaders in the REO foreclosure market for the Metro NY and Long Island areas.  If you are ready to work with the best, we’re ready to show you everything this exciting market has to offer.

logo5When I was a little girl I remember my Grandmother would get really angry when people would talk about what something was worth.  I remember my Uncle Ted talking about a painting he had bought and telling my grandmother that it was worth $10,000.  My grandmother said, “It’s only worth that if you can get someone to pay that for it.”  It was one of her favorite sayings.  I didn’t really understand it as a child.

It wasn’t until I was in a college economics class and the professor was talking about stocks that I began to understand.  He was saying that the stocks were valued at $25 a share, but he went on to explain that this wasn’t the entire picture of the value of the stocks.  stand-aloneThat the number of stocks sold would have an impact on the cost of the stocks and that had to be taken into consideration.  If 10,000 of the stocks sold at $25 a share it is possible that the shares could be perceived as very valuable and some people might be willing to pay $30 for the stock.  Equally possible, the stocks could stop selling which could cause a perception that the stock is worth less than $25.  So was the stock really worth $25? Or is it possible that value is about more than just sticker price?

Part of what has happened to our economy is a result of valuing things based on what someone is willing to pay for it.  The cost of the average American home had risen significantly by November 2007, because people were willing to pay more.  We all recognize now that a large number of homes were sold at a price that the homeowners couldn’t really afford.

As a result there are a large number of REO and Foreclosure properties on the market.  These properties are being offered at competitive prices, making them a genuine opportunity for a home buyer.  These are high value properties, but their value does not rest solely in their pricing.  These are homes that offer an opportunity for financial stability and a chance to grow.  If you are interested in finding true value, visit Island Advantage Realty LLC. We are the industry leaders in foreclosures and REO property in Metro NY and Long Island.

logo8There has been a great deal of press lately over the canceled book Angel at the Fence by Herman Rosenblat. The book was to detail Rosenblat’s time as a teenager in Buchenwald, and the young girl who threw food over the fence in order to keep him alive.  A girl that, according to the story, he reunited with years later and married.

Now Rosenblat has admitted that there was no girl at the fence feeding him.  I feel very sad that Rosenblat’s story will not be told now.  tulipsAs a granddaughter of holocaust survivors I am saddened that a story of surviving Buchenwald, finding happiness with a woman who survived the death marches and being married for more than 50 years, wasn’t “enough” without embellishments.  There are some things that need no embellishment.

I also find it frustrating when I read advertisements or other Blogs about REO properties that make it sound as if the banks are selling these properties for pennies on the dollar.  It isn’t true and any one who make these assertions is simply try to manipulate you into their office.  REO properties are a great opportunity, they are a wonderful value and you can save a substantial amount of money by purchasing one, but they aren’t giving them away.  To even imply they are cheapens the property.  REO properties are sold for fair market value minus the cost of necessary repairs; this is a great deal that requires no embellishment.

If you are interested in working with honest, experienced REO professionals I hope you will call Island Advantage Realty, LLC.
